Aalt deVries

January 17, 1944 – November 6, 2017

Aalt passed away suddenly Monday afternoon while preparing his backyard for winter.  He was 73 years old.   He was welcomed home by our Lord and is now at peace with his son, Gary and his parents in Heaven.

He is survived by Jane, his beloved wife of 53 years, daughter Karoline (Christopher) Steeves, daughter in law Jo-Ann deVries, and two wonderful grandchildren, Jared and Gavin. His brothers -  Renger (Carol) deVries, Gery (Anne) deVries, Harry (Cindy) DeVries; his sisters Margret (John) DeJong, Willie (Wim) VanHerk, Teuni Wallington and partner Dale and many nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Aalt can attest to his passion spending time with his grandchildren – talking about collector cars and sports.  Aalt will be remembered as being a loving father and husband.  He enjoyed hockey and softball and was passionate about his hobbies.  (Which drove us all a little nuts) 

The family wishes to thank the ambulance attendants and fire department who were on scene for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday November 21, 2017 @ 2:00 PM at the Christian Reformed Church - 5033 Roger Street – Pastor Curtis Korver officiating.

He bade no one a last farewell,
He said good-bye to none;
The heavenly gates were opened wide,
A loving voice said, "Come".
