Gordon Henry SMITH

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gordon Smith on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

He will be sadly missed by his brother, David (Janet); nephew, Quentin (Holly); niece, Andrea (Scott); great nephews, Dominic, Grayson, Austin; and great niece, Hannah. Gordon will also be missed by his brothers and sisters in law, and was a great uncle and friend to many nieces and nephews.

Born in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario, Gordon later moved to Espanola, Ontario where he married the love of his life, Marjorie Martin. They moved around the world together, living in the USA, Australia and Argentina before settling in the Vancouver/Parksville/Nanaimo area. Gordon felt it was sort of "like northern Ontario but on a grander scale".

A true gentleman, Gordon was known for his calm demeanor, positive outlook on life, and was highly respected by his peers.

An Instrument Engineer by trade, Gordon’s varied interests also included spending time on the links with his golfing friends, stamp collecting, and possessing a great affection for golden cocker spaniels.

The family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Eagle Park Care Facility for the compassionate care they gave Gordon during his time with them.

In keeping with Gordon’s wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Gordon’s memory by making a donation in his name to the BC Cancer Foundation, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, BC  V8R 6V5.
