Joseph (Don) Gard

Don passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Wed., Nov.15th, 2017 at the age of 87.

He was predeceased by his daughter Susan (age 23), brother Alex, and son-in-law Dennis and is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Louise, children Joe (Kim), Deb, Mike, Lorraine (Bruce), grandchildren Ryan, Cara, Christa, David & Jason.

Don/Dad was the eldest of seven children.  He was a very quiet, loving, thoughtful, patient man, who was involved in Scouting for over 30 years, and was a machinist at the Paper Mill until retirement.  He dedicated his life to his family and was an exceptional role model.

He’ll be greatly missed by all his family and all those who knew him.  We’ll always remember the bounce in his step and his happy whistling.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Yates Memorial Chapel, Port Alberni, on Monday, Nov. 27th at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
