Lorne BRIGGS Obituary

Lorne Shannon Briggs, born April 25, 1928, passed away peacefully at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach on Sunday, April 1st, 2018. Lorne was predeceased by his wife, Anne (Greene) Briggs in 2005, and his parents, Arthur and Mildred (Fraser) Briggs. Lorne will be remembered by his daughter, Kathy Graham; son, Owen Briggs; and granddaughter, Laurel Graham.

After spending his early life in and around Algonquin Park and Huntsville, Ontario, Lorne moved his young family to Oshawa, Ontario in 1964. He worked for many years at LASCO, and retired in 1990 to Qualicum Beach, BC with Anne.

Lorne was happiest outdoors, travelling, or simply sitting quietly with a good book, while drinking yet another cup of coffee, or maybe a glass of wine. He still missed his motorcycle, loved a ban pun, and took far too many photographs!

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to all the staff on the 3rd floor at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach for the excellent care they provided over the last two years. The skills and small kindnesses significantly enhanced Lorne’s quality of life. Thanks as well to the ever-friendly staff at Deez Bar & Grill where he happily dined, often twice a day, for years before that.

At Lorne’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. If you wish, donations can be made in Lorne’s honour to the charity of your choice.
