Welcome to the memorial page for

Patricia Doreen DRAPER

August 17, 1936 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 81) 81 Years Old

With great sadness, we announce that our mother & wife Pat Draper (Caley) passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord, with her family by her side.  Pat leaves behind her loving husband of 43 years, George Draper and her children; Mark Clayards (Mary) of Terrace, Jeanne Alexander (Bruce) of Nanoose Bay, Keith Clayards (Lynn) of Victoria and step daughter Darlene Stone (Brian) of Cobble Hill.  "Grammie" will be fondly remembered by all of her grandchildren Jason, Leah, Caley, Brian, Benjamin, Taylor, William and Brynn along with 6 great grandchildren.  Pat also leaves behind her siblings; sisters Mona Mowat and Gwen MacPherson and brother John (Chick) Caley, all of Victoria and many nieces and nephews.  Pat was pre-deceased by her parents Benjamin & Gladys Caley and her brother Robert (Bob) Caley.

Born and raised in Esquimalt BC, Pat’s greatest passions in life were family, faith and community work. Her community work started through theater, becoming a lifetime honourary member of the Victoria Operatic Society (VOS). Pat continued her community work when she moved to the Parksville-Qualicum area some 30 years ago. Since then, she became a faithful member of the Mount Arrowsmith Salvation Army congregation. Pat assisted in many outreach services including food banks, soup kitchens, disaster relief efforts and of course, the Christmas kettle campaigns. She continued to give selflessly, volunteering with many S.O.S. community organizations. Her proudest individual achievements included helping the victims of the 2003 Barriere forest fires (with the Salvation Army) and receiving the “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2012 from the S.O.S. & Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Pat’s family would like to acknowledge, with special thanks, the attending staff of Trillium Lodge Hospice and the community Oceanside Homecare support team. They provided care filled with a gentle touch, a kind word, grace & dignity.

A memorial service & reception will be held on Saturday, January 20th 2018 at 1:00pm at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Rd, Parksville BC, Major Norm Hamelin officiating.

At Pat’s request, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local Salvation Army chapter or to S.O.S. (Society of Organized Services -245 Hirst Ave W, Parksville BC) or to the charity of your choice in her memory.
