Valerie Norma Sylvia LESTAGE

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Valerie Lestage (Hodgkinson) on Tuesday, January 30th, 2018. Valerie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Shawn Lestage (Karen) of Parksville, BC; daughter-in-law, Marlene Bergeron of North Bay, ON; granddaughter, Jennifer Lestage (Chris) of Black Creek, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Valerie was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Thomas Lestage on December 11, 2005; sisters, Christine McFadden (Bill) and Shirley Mulvogue (Joe); and brother, Garvin Hodgkinson.

Valerie excelled at being a homemaker, housewife, and mother. She loved cats and always fed strays if they wandered into her yard.

She and her husband Ernie enjoyed bowling and later joined the local dart league in North Bay, ON where she won many awards for high score.

Valerie worked hard as a waitress throughout the 70's. Although she never completed high school, she started helping her husband at his business by answering the phone and doing book keeping duties, an accomplishment she was very proud of.

Valerie had a very generous spirit and would always place a large sum of money in the Salvation Army Kettles every Christmas. In her spare time Valerie was a keen bingo player. She enjoyed regular trips to the Casino where she loved the sounds and atmosphere!

Valerie will be laid to rest next to her husband Ernest, in North Bay, ON in the summer of 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oceanside Hospice Society www.oceansidehospice.com
