Anne,
I was so very sorry to hear about Don's passing. He was so enthusiastic about life. I thank you and Don so very much for introducing me to mountain biking. We had so much fun on our bike rides and your hospitality afterwards. He will be very much missed. Nick

Dear Ann & Family
Our condolences for your loss of Don. The countless volunteer hours he spent working on the QBES Bike Trails and riding with the kids to ensure their pursuit in the love of biking that has been life changing for so many over the years. We will always remember his commanding and reasurring "SWEEP" that all had made it safe and sound!
Huge hugs & love

Ann, although we only met Don and yourself while here in Edmonton at Rob & Rosemarie's home, we sincerely offer our condolences at your loss of a wonderful man. One can only wonder at the turns of fate that took a young man out of Saskatchewan to defend the waters of Canada and eventually to sharing his life with you and your family.

Don was a big of an enigma; properly British decorum and mannerisms on the outside, yet a bubbling cauldron of effervescence and enthusiasm on the inside. His passion for action led him to the ski hills, the ocean, the forests, and he left a mark of joy on individuals fortunate enough to meet and play with him. A man of honour and integrity, his passing leaves an unfillable void. He is missed.

To Ann and the rest of Barnes Family: Although we only briefly met with Don and Ann here in Edmonton with Rob and Rosemarie, he left a lasting impression of a man with a love of life and everyone that surrounded him.

Strange how the fates can take a young man born in Battlefield Saskatchewan and following the activities he loved, serving in the Canadian Navy, and ending up on the West Coast to be near the ocean and mountains he grew to love with his family and many friends.

May peace be with all of Don's family and friends, and remember him fondly.
Sincerely, Phil & Tara Tkachuk (Edmonton)

To our dear friend Ann,
It is with great sorrow that I write this. It does not seem possible that such an active and much loved man is not coming home, covered in dirt and sweat, from the sport of choice that day. And there was many!
He is missed by many and most of all by you and his family.
Do not hesitate to call us for absolutely anything.
We love you Ann.
Big hugs....Doug and Sandy
