Gordon GENOE Obituary

Gordon Allen Genoe

March 1952 – July 2018

After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer our beloved Gordon, known to most as “Potsy”, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2018 at the age of 66.

Predeceased by his special daughter Cheri, mother Elsie, and cherished lifelong friends Dave and Gord. Survived by his loving wife Lisa, father Guy, stepdaughter Chelsea (Scott), brothers Guy (Cyndy), George (Jo-Ann), Rick (Debbie) and Walter (Linda), sister Ella-May (Calvin), and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

Born in Comox, BC, Potsy lived and worked most of his life on Vancouver Island. He took on many different jobs, mainly in the logging and fishing industries, before finally settling into a long career as a truck driver.

In his early years Potsy was a member of the Qualicum Beach Lions Club where he spent a great deal of time volunteering. Later in life he joined the Royal Canadian Legion in Bowser and would often devote his time helping with events.

Potsy loved golfing, fishing, socializing, playing cards with friends and family, and listening to his “tunes”.

Always a comic with an infectious smile, Potsy was sure to bring out the laughter in everyone. He was a supportive friend, quick to lend a hand if you needed it, and never stopped being concerned for everyone’s wellbeing even as his own health failed. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife and soul mate of more than 20 years.

Sincere thanks to Dr. Simms, Dr. Hunter, home care nursing, Oceanside Hospice, and all of the health care providers who helped Gord to fight his illness.

Please join us in a celebration of Potsy’s life on Saturday, July 21, 2018, 1:00 pm at the Lighthouse Community Centre, 240 Lions Way, Qualicum Beach, BC.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Gord’s name to the BC Cancer Agency or Oceanside Hospice.
