Paul "Mickey" BEDNASH

Our beloved Mickey Bednash passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13th, 2018 at Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville, with Donna (and Millie the cat) by his side.

Predeceased by his mother, Maxine Beatty (Swift Current, SK); father, Stan Bednash (Cloverdale, BC); and his oldest son in 2009, Daniel Bednash (AB), Mickey will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 15 years, Donna Weatherby; son, Tyler Bednash (Red Deer, AB); grandchildren, Jax, Sammy Rae, and Stevie Rae Bednash (Red Deer, AB); first wife, Jan Tudor and husband Robin; brother in law, Scott Broadfoot and wife Donna; siblings, Debbie Pruner and husband Wayne (Pt Coq, BC), Ray, Derek and Steve Bednash; nieces and nephews; as well as many friends in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Mickey enjoyed careers in both a photo lab and trucking. He was an avid sports fan, especially horse racing. He played football and basketball in his youth and loved to brag and cheer as his sons and grandson played football and basketball too. Mickey loved all animals and was a big-hearted people person.

In his later years, Mickey never lost his happy outlook and always liked to joke and kid around with staff and other residents at the Lodge. This happy guy was still “larger than life”! When he entered a room he never went unnoticed.

Mickey’s favourite saying: “Do remember, we are blessed, not entitled”

A Memorial Mass will be held in Mickey's honour at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 25th, 2018 at the Church of The Ascension, 887 Wembley Road in Parksville. A light luncheon will follow the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mickey's name to the SPCA or the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, www.niwra.org.
