Sadly, Roy lost his brave battle with cancer on Monday, August 12, 2019.
He leaves behind to forever miss him his sisters, Rose Pauluzzi and Gloria Tetrault; brother, Roger (Shirley); nieces and nephews, Darlene (Frank), Ed (Brenda), Anita (Ken), Urisa (Dave), Daryl, Jamie (Vaughn), Michelle (Nic), and Katrina (Pat); as well as many friends and extended family members. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Antonia; brother, Ed (Lorriane); brothers-in-law, Joe Pauluzzi and Fred Tetrault.
Born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, Roy moved to Port Alberni when he was in his 20’s where he worked as a telecommunications technician for 30 years. In his spare time, he loved to golf and fish. Roy was a very patient and kind man who was well known for his great sense of humour. He will be sorrowfully missed by all those whose lives he touched.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr Wendy Johnson, Dr Papo, the staff at VIHA, Red Cross, and Home Support that cared for Roy. A special thanks goes out to the team of staff and volunteers at Ty Watson House for the exceptional care Roy received during his time with them. His family are so grateful to them all for ensuring that his final journey was one filled with quality care and compassion.
In keeping with Roy’s wishes no formal services will be held. Family and friends will hold a private gathering to honour his memory at a later date.
