Aubrey was born to Alex & Rose Dvorchik in the north end of Winnipeg where he spent the first 20 years of his life. While there, he lived with his brother David (Caroline Osborne) and he met his oldest and dearest friends Bill and Judy Mahon, Joe Lewis and Paula McRobbie. He left Winnipeg in 1960 to move to Toronto where he began a long career in the insurance and banking industries.
During his second marriage his beloved sons Rob and Adam were born. Their childhood and teenage years were among the best in Aubrey’s life as he devoted endless hours to supporting them both in the sports they loved, especially baseball. He coached and umpired and cheered them on. They shared the love of the sport to the end of his life.
Although Aubrey met Bonnie in 1970, they didn’t reconnect until 1997 when both were again single. They celebrated their first date on the first of every month to the present day. During those 25 happy years, they blended their dearest friendships, made new ones, travelled, moved to the west coast and bought more than a few cars.
The family grew again in 2009 when Rob married Daniella Macri and they soon welcomed grandson Frankie and 3 1/2 years later grand daughter Daria. They were both adored by their grandfather who regretted living so far from them.
Aubrey had a massive heart attack in 1996 but triple bypass gave him back his health. The second in 2019 however could not be fixed and no surgery was possible. The wonders of modern medicine and his own will to keep going. kept Aubrey around for longer than was expected. For that his family and friends are exceptionally grateful. Eventually dementia diminished his life and took him into care away from his beloved Bonnie. A final heart attack took him from us for good.
Thanks go out to the staff at Wexford Creek for easing his last difficult months and to the amazing doctors and nurses in emergency and on the 3rd floor of NRGH. You are all angels.
Private burial at 1 p.m. Monday May 2, gathering to follow at 2 at Yates.
