Barbara Bondar Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we share with you the tragic sudden loss of our precious sister, Barbara Elizabeth Bondar.

Barbara was born November 27, 1958 in Bralorne, BC to her proud parents- Rose and John Bondar and thrilled sister and brother, who all welcomed this much anticipated baby girl.

Barb led an adventurous life as her father was a miner and took his beloved family to the different locations in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Barb graduated from Howe Sound Secondary School in Squamish, BC June 1976 and went on to complete a diploma course in floral design at Joan Johnson School of Floral Design. Barb enjoyed Floral Design at J&R’s Flowers Fast and Blue Mountain Florist in Langley, BC. Floral Design continued at Purrfect Touch Florist in Qualicum Beach, BC as well as the thrill of serving in the Floral Department at Thrifty Foods in Parksville, BC.

Barb also enjoyed her time as a transplanter/basket designer at Cottonwood Nurseries in Parksville, BC.

Barb was an avid, talented cook. Serving as a cook at the Lions Easter Seal Camp Squamish. Barb also cooked at The Pacific Brimm in Parksville, BC as well as enjoyed cooking at The Old Country Market Restaurant in Coombs, BC. Barbs satisfying adventure continued serving as a cook/hatchery worker at Henderson Lake Hatchery in Kildonan, BC.

Barb had a very sensitive nature and wrote poetry; -often expressing emotionally revealing thoughts and subjects!

As well with her interests Barb loved animals and had several dogs as cherished pets.

Barb also love nature.

She was very talented and artistic with craft works, gardening, and floral design.

Cooking was a passion of Barbs-especially ethnic cooking and Barb was an excellent cook/chef.

She is predeceased by Dad and Mom-John and Rose Bondar.

Survived by sister Nadine, of Parksville, BC, and brother- Patrick, of Port McNeill. Barb was a special Auntie to Lisa and Michael. Barbe leaves behind many cousins and second cousins that Barb valued and appreciated their love for her. Barb also appreciated her close friends and many co-employees; -who felt like family while they worked together.

On July 17, 2019 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Barb passed away peacefully into Heaven -with her brother Pat and Sister Nadine loving and encouraging her at her bedside.
