Cyril was born on October 4th,1940, and passed away peacefully on December 29th,2020. He was predeceased by his parents Vera and William Emmerson, a younger brother, Daryl and his former wife Coral.
He is survived by his wife, Anne (nee Harris), of 21 years, his children ,Tracy (Robert), Robert, Leigh (Mike) and David ,and their children, As well as his step children, David, Ken, Beth, Michael, Lee Anne, Stephen and Pam and their children; his brothers ,Winston (Lucille), Roger(Patti),and his sister,Jane (Rai).
For the first half of his married life , he lived in Welland and Elliot Lake with his lovely wife, Coral and their 4 children .He was a minor Sports executive and supported and participated in his childrens’ many activities . He enjoyed family camping trips, curling and golf. He was president of the Granite Curling Club and director and treasurer of the Elliot Lake Golf Club.
His business career was as a chartered accountant.
During the second part of his life, he married Anne (nee Harris) who he met at St. Peter the Apostle Church where they were both actively involved. He also acquired several step children.Cyril and Anne both had a very strong faith. Their daily motto was “ Pray hard and think positive.” Cyril was the Peoples’ Warden,then The Rector’s Warden, as well as a lay reader and Advisory Board Chair at the church. He sat on the board of St. Joseph’s General Hospital as Vice chairman and financial chair.
Cyril and Anne spent several winters in Panama City Beach, Florida, where with many friends they enjoyed cards, dominoes, concerts and cruises, and later reciprocal visits. The last 7 winters have been spent in Mazatlan, Mexico, where they loved the people and “living in Paradise” with many new friends. They enjoyed quilting and crafts and attended many craft sales to raise money for favourite charities, mainly the hospital, church and “Their Mexicans”
The last 14 years they have lived in the apartment of Anne’s son, David’s home. Cyril loved gardening and spent many hours in the yard. He has been extremely close to David and his grandson, Daniel. Beth was always first to call him every birthday .Steve dropped in when Least expected to check upon him. As well, grandchildren, Erica ,Rob,Jason, Allison and Chris constantly kept in touch. Tracy, Robert, Leigh and Mike paid a surprise visit to their Dad on his 80th Birthday - we all shared a very happy time.
Cyril was a very gentle person, kind, caring and loving.,and the epitomy of a gentleman. He was a wonderful husband and companion. After a month in hospital battling accelerating dementia and cancer, Cyril slept peacefully away on his way to heaven , his wife Anne at his side holding his hand. May he Rest In Peace.
