David John Chmiel
Born Oct 6, 1964 in Edmonton, AB.
Died Dec 31, 2020 in Qualicum Beach, BC.
“The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.” Lamentations 3:22
We mourn David’s passing-he was deeply loved by his family. David was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Chmiel of Edmonton and his sister Anne of Edmonton. He is survived by his son Zachary of Edmonton; his sisters Marti (Murray) of Campbell River, BC, Jeannie Reimer of Calgary, and Helen Chmiel of Sherwood Park; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
David had a loving heart, a generous spirit, and a creative mind. He was fun-loving and adventure-seeking. He loved sharing fun times and adventures with his son Zachary who he loved so much. David had a special connection with children and his beloved dogs-Rambo, Bruno, Scooby-Doo & Sabbath. It was really something to see their devotion to him.
David had 2 years of training as a steam engineer at NAIT in Edmonton and had many jobs in his life, too many to list. When he was employed, he showed up on time and gave his best effort to the job but for a variety of reasons, the jobs didn’t last. He had talents and skills that many never knew about.
David lived life hard and was a very memorable personality. He had many dreams and plans but his constant struggle with addictions and mental illness was his undoing, time after time.
We move ahead with the hope that he is at peace at last in the arms of our loving, merciful God.
We will remember David, not as he ended but as he began, full of love, life, and laughter!
