It is with great sadness that we announce that Buck passed away peacefully today after a short illness.
Dad will be greatly missed by his son’s Doug (Linda), Wayne (Georgie) and Brian, and by grandchildren Jacob, Jessica (Mateo), Zachary, Allana (Renan) and Hayden (Levon). As well as by his three gems, great granddaughters Blake, Halle and Sawyer.
Dad was predeceased by his parents and his brother Jim (Joyce) and sister’s Margaret and Kathleen (Dick).
Today Dad reunited with Mamie Anne his wife and best friend of 61 years. Mom also left us too early, passing in August of 2020.
Dad was an “Island Man” living and working his whole life on Vancouver Island. I am not sure if Dad was happiest in the cab of a machine or under the hood of one, but either way he enjoyed his work on the shop floor and in the woods.
Dad and Mom relocated to Parksville a few years ago and they both enjoyed being “back home” in Parksville and for Dad being close to Errington.
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Trillium Lodge who assisted Dad in his last days.
When possible, a gathering of family and friends will be held to reflect on memories and to celebrate Mom and Dad’s lives. In the meantime, we will be sharing stories at home of fishing trips with the Burgoynes, camping with the Dirk’s and trying to decide if all the wild stories about Dad, Ted & Don in their younger years were really true.
