Gary Purpur

On June 11, 2022, Gary Purpur, 69 years of age and resident of Parksville, BC passed after a sudden and brief illness.  Gary was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 18, 1953, but has lived most of his life here on the island.  He worked for many years here in the forest industry as a cartographer and GIS specialist helping map the island and the beautiful coast he loved so much. He was a talented artist and photographer.  He loved his family, his team Manchester United, travel, scuba diving and the ocean.  

Gary is sadly missed by his wife, Leanne Clendening-Purpur and his children Gordon Purpur (Natasha Landa), Adyn Purpur (Annika Norton) and Journey Clendening.

If you would like to make a contribution In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the First Open Heart Society of British Columbia (for Victoria Heart House).

The family thanks everyone for their love and support.  A private celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date.
