Hazel WHITTINGHAM Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel at the age of 91. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma and great grandma.

Hazel was born and raised in Vancouver then moved to Surrey when she married Cliff in 1956. She worked for many years as a grocery cashier at Canada Safeway and High Low Foods. After a job opportunity for Cliff they moved the family to Parksville in 1971, she then started work as a Member Service Representative, then supervisor at Parksville and District Credit Union (Coastal Community Credit Union) for 10 years until Cliff's health required her to take early retirement

Hazel was was very creative and talented. She enjoyed sewing and was a lovely seamstress making clothing for herself and her children as well as draperies and home decor. She knit and crocheted numerous afghans for her children and grandchildren. She also took to making beautiful  flower arrangements for all of our homes.

Many summers were spent at Miracle Beach Resort where she loved camping, starting out in a tent and eventually a travel trailer. She continued these vacations into her late 80's.

Hazel's life was always about her family and she also cared very deeply for her beloved pets throughout her years. Brandy, Rainy and Bella were truly great companions for her.

Hazel was predeceased by her husband Clifford (1988), her brother William, her sister Barbara and daughter Wendy.

She is survived by her sister Deborah (Don), her son Wilfred (Linda), her daughter Brenda (Paul) and her daughter Corinne (Glen). Grandchildren: Glenn (Cheryl), Caroline (Mike), Travis, Chad , Brett, Sean (Melanie) and Clayton. Great Grandchildren: Melissa, Jamie, Julia, Auriana, Logan and Dylan.

 Loved and never forgotten

Special thanks to the staff at Stanford Seniors Village (Bayview) for their kindness and respect for Hazel during her past two years in residence.
