Helen (Docherty) Buholzer

July 17, 1926 ~ March 25, 2021 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Helen Buholzer Obituary

With a profound sense of loss, the family of Helen Buholzer wish to announce her peaceful passing at the age of 94 years.  Helen was born in Rothesay, Scotland, and married Henry Buholzer who was with the Canadian Army, in London, England, in 1945.  She immigrated to Canada the following year as a war bride and they settled in Grimshaw, Alberta where they raised their family. During this time she was employed by the RCMP, and she helped organize the Ladies Auxiliary to the new Grimshaw Hospital.  Helen was a lifetime Charter Member of the Grimshaw Legion Auxiliary, Branch #253.   In 1984, Henry and Helen retired to Qualicum Beach, BC.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Henry, in 1989, and by grandsons, Rob Kinderwater in 2000, Alex Reyda in 2016, her parents:  Alexander and Helen Docherty,  her brothers William, Arthur, Alex, James and Eddie, her sister, Bridget Guiney, and her son-in-law, David Reyda.   She is survived by her children:  Diane Kinderwater (Bill) in Qualicum Beach, Bill (Jeannette) in Vancouver, Susan Wald (Dave) in Parksville, Janet Reyda in Brownvale, Alberta and Glenn (Jette) in Vancouver;  her grandchildren:  Billy and Chris Kinderwater, Chris and Cameron Wald, Vincent Buholzer, Katie Gagnon, Paddy Reyda and  Alma Buholzer;  her great-grandchildren:  Tommi Rae , Ashton, Jack, Sydney, Jadyn, Hunter, Claire, Cole, Adélie and Emilie, and her sisters-in law:   Audrey Docherty, Vivienne Docherty;  and Alice Docherty.

A memorial gathering is planned for a later date.  Helen’s family wish to thank the administration and staff at Qualicum Manor in Qualicum Beach for their exemplary care and thoughtfulness shown to Helen during her last years.  We appreciate it very much.
