John Muir Akehurst

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John at Trillium Lodge on November 13, 2023, with family at his side. He is predeceased by his parents Reginald and Beatrice Akehurst.

John is survived by his children Nicole and Steven Bodnaruk, Jocelyn, and Wade Arave, Ayla and Sadiq Abubakar, grandchildren Simone, Eli and Luke Bodnaruk, Emerson and Norah Arave and Ayden and Zayn Abubakar. Also survived by siblings Alan and Jacqueline Akehurst and Margaret Akehurst, nephews Daryl, Paul, Jason and nieces Diane and Mandy and their Families.

Dad Loved his family. He found contentment and joy being in nature, on road trips, hiking, camping, doing yard work and chopping wood.

He loved all animals, the band the tame and the wild. His favourite music was listening to the Blues. He played a recording of bagpipes to wake us up on Christmas mornings.  The CBC radio was always on in the background. John would never turn down a cup of black coffee or a cookie.

A celebration of Johns life will be planned for August 23, 2024, in Qualicum Beach.
