With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Laura Wheeler on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in the West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni.
Laura leaves to forever miss her, her children Lori (Curtis) of Victoria, Theresa of Port Alberni, Joseph (Kerri) of Bowser, and James also of Port Alberni; grandchildren, Adam, Brooke, Tristan, Miranda, Ildiko, Maxwell, Emma, and Caleb; great grand children, Thomas and Tori; brother, Hughie (Jessie) Broderick of Ontario; sister in law, Rosanna Broderick of Ontario; as well as many, many extended family and friends. Laura was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Margaret Broderick; sisters, Catherine, Madeline, Dorothy; and brothers, Bernard and Cyril.
Laura was born in St Brendan’s Newfoundland to Patrick and Margaret Broderick. After the loss of her soulmate, Ivan, Laura relocated to BC to be closer to her children finally settling in Port Alberni in 2005.
Laura had a strong survivor instinct and lived life to the fullest. She loved people, playing cards, and dancing but most of all Laura loved her family. The hours spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her immense joy.
A proud Canadian, Laura made friends easily, loved to shop and “discuss” politics with anyone she could engage in a lively conversation.
Laura's family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Dr Kitshoff, the Better At Home Program nurses, friends and family who supported their mother and enriched the quality of her life over the years.
Greatly Missed – Forever In Our Hearts
