Lawrence Holoboff
May 22, 1927 to May 18, 2023
It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Lawrence Holoboff, 95, of Qualicum Beach, BC, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Lawrence or “Slim” as most knew him, was the third child of Polly Holoboff (nee) Kabatoff and Alex Holoboff.
Lawrence is survived by daughters Laurie Anne (Dave), Ellen (Chuck), sons Chris (Beverley), Bob (Fiona), and Greg (Christine); 11 grandchildren Sarah, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Rachel, Brayden, Michaela, Cameron, Nicole, Nicholas, Max and Jackson; four great-grandchildren Rae, Sawyer, Bowen and Norah and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was predeceased by his dear grandchildren Alyssa and Evan.
Lawrence was born in Kamsack Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver to work where he met the love of his life, Marguerite Paille. They were married on May 10, 1958 and had 63 wonderful years together.
Slim and Gigs settled in Surrey B.C. to raise their five children. After retirement in 1993 they moved to Qualicum Beach, B.C. During their retirement years Slim and Gigs enjoyed travelling to different parts of the world - Portugal, Scotland, Cook Islands, Hawaii and Mexico to name a few.
Slim was amazing at telling all kinds of stories, from childhood memories, family history and family events.
Dad loved gardening, building and fixing things.
Slim took great pleasure in entertaining and over the years they hosted countless dinner parties where the bar was always stocked.
Dad was loving, generous and kind and will be deeply missed by his family.
A special thanks to Mom and Dad’s wonderful friends and neighbours for their love and care through the years.
