Lori Diack Obituary

Lori Rumney Diack
April 29th, 1956 - March 11th, 2024

In loving memory of my wife and best friend, Phyllis Loreen Rumney Diack, affectionately known as Lori, who departed on March 11, 2024, after bravely facing cancer. Lori, born on April 29th, 1956, in Port Alberni, BC, is survived by her mother Minnie and three brothers Darrell, Greg & Mike in BC & Alberta.

As a young adult, Lori settled in Red Deer, Alberta, where she raised her two cherished daughters, Lisa (Darrin) and Marlena (Kurt), and took immense pride in her five grandchildren: Jaden, Ethan, Julia, Ava, and Noah.

In 1994, Lori and I (Rob) crossed paths and married in 1999. We embarked on our journey that led us to various locations across BC, including Vancouver Island. Our moves were guided by my career with the RCMP. Our retirement to Qualicum Beach in 2010 fulfilled Lori's lifelong dream. Together, we explored Europe, cruised, golfed, and cherished visits with our children and grandchildren in Alberta. Lori's love and presence enriched my life, and I truly became a better man because of her - Lori, I love you.

In Qualicum Beach, Lori discovered a passion for golf, achieving a remarkable hole-in-one. She embraced and loved curling, mentoring newcomers at the Qualicum Curling Club and was so happy to skip her own team. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and her sense of humour. Lori was a long-time member of the Qualicum Beach Legion, where she volunteered regularly. Beyond her hobbies, Lori found solace in nature; walking, hiking, and tending to her yard.

Lori leaves behind a circle of cherished friends whose unwavering support during this challenging time has been a source of comfort. To each of you, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.

Lori passed peacefully in hospice, surrounded by love, following a brief stay in palliative care. We are deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received during her time there.

Please join us in celebrating Lori's life on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Qualicum Beach Legion, Veterans Way, Qualicum Beach.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Cancer Society of your choice, in Lori's honour.
