It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marc Richard Vercleyen, on December 25, 2021. Marc was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Evon "Irene" Taylor, his mother Elizabeth DeKegel, his father Robert Vercleyen and his brother Luc Vercleyen. He is survived by his daughter Tammy Campbell, his granddaughter Sidney Campbell and his sister Maria-Noelle Vercleyen. Marc is also survived by several relatives (cousins, aunts and uncles) who live in his home country of Belgium.

Marc and Irene moved from Calgary to Fanny Bay in 1990.  They established Actec Sales & Service, which was a successful plumbing and heating business in the Comox Valley for over 25 years. Marc quickly became a sought-out and respected tradesman in the community, he went above and beyond on countless occasions to help his customers and community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends.

The things he loved most in life were his family, fishing and the times he spent with friends in his “office” at the FBI. For many years, you could find him, at the end of the day, sitting on his stool at the end of the bar visiting and giving advice. He and Irene volunteered countless hours to the Lion’s Club and the Bowser Legion.

Following the passing of Irene in 2016, Marc moved from Fanny Bay and lived at the Lions Senior Housing in Qualicum Bay. He continued to be very generous and willing to help those close to him.

Marc’s Celebration of Life will be held in the spring/early summer (date to be determined) at the Fanny Bay Inn, which holds so many joyful and happy memories and the spirits of both Marc and Irene.
