Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret on March 9, 2023, at the age of 97.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Margaret (nee Miller) McGill; her husband T. E. Meredith in 1995; and her only child, daughter Barbara L. Meredith, in 2007. Margaret is survived by her son-in-law John Soer and his husband Howard Rose, as well as her grandchildren Meredith T.M. Soer (Matt West) and Adam T.L. Soer. She also leaves behind many dear friends who will miss her dearly.

Margaret had a diverse career, including time at the BC Teachers Federation, as a bookkeeper, and working for Gibson's Building Supply. She was also a homemaker, dedicating herself to caring for her family and loved ones.

Margaret was an active member of her community, serving as a Brownie Leader and a private pilot. She also helped her husband build seven homes. In retirement, Margaret remained active with the Nanoose Bay Seniors Group, knitting group, walking group, and book club.

A service will be held in memory of Margaret at the Unitarian Fellowship in Nanaimo, BC, at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Margaret’s memory to the Unitarian Shelter:
