We are all deeply saddened by the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Margaret passed away peacefully at Trillium Hospice in the early morning hours on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Cyril and Constance (Connie), her second husband Bill Milligan and her only sibling Doreen.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband Robert Settler, six children including Rocky Krogfoss, Steve (Lanette) Krogfoss, Gary (Kristine) Krogfoss, Glenn Krogfoss, Perry (Tanya) Krogfoss, Scott (Jennifer) Stewart, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and Nika, her beautiful beagle dog.
Margaret was born in Vancouver, B.C. and lived in various cities throughout B.C. in her childhood as her dad was a member of the B.C. Police Force. Margaret often spoke of the various places she lived as a child, including Cranbrook, Smithers and the Queen Charlotte Islands (during WWII). She really enjoyed the outdoors as a child and especially loved to swim and ice skate. She also learned to play the piano and was a gifted piano player. Margaret worked at Nanaimo General Hospital for 23 years and she spoke fondly of both her job and co-workers at the hospital. Maybe one of her most amazing accomplishments was passing and obtaining her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory piano teaching certification at the age of 80 years. Margaret loved to play her baby grand piano and her music was simply beautiful and will be enjoyed by her family for years to come. Margaret had a deep passion for all animals, especially dogs, and she lovingly raised many rescue dogs in her life. She also gave generously to many charities including the SPCA.
To our wife, mom, grandma, and great grandmother, you will be greatly missed by all, but never forgotten! May you now rest in peace wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother….we all love you forever……
A Celebration of Life for Margaret will be held at a later date, likely in the summer of 2021. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
