Mark Ashcroft Obituary

MARK ERNEST ASHCROFT
JANUARY 20, 1958 - JUNE 9, 2022

With disbelief and great sadness we announce the passing of a very gentle loving Husband, Father, Papa, Son, Brother, Nephew, Cousin Uncle & Friend. Mark was filled with love and laughter he touched so many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Mark loved his family with all his heart and soul. He was proud of his three children, who have become such wonderful adults. When his grandkids were born, he was always showing them off to everyone with the largest smile and with such love. He will always be there for all of you, just talk to him. He will remain forever in our hearts. Till we meet again!

Mark was born in Eckville, Alberta, son to Ronald and Margaret Ashcroft. His dad was a bank manager and the family moved ten times within three Provinces over the years. Mark graduated from Cowichan Senior Secondary then attended UBC and BCIT earning his Architectural Technology certificate. He then started working for School District #65 Cowichan, met his future wife Linda and shortly after moved to North Vancouver with their three children David, Rob and Deanna.

Mark is survived by his wife Lin, sons David (Robyn) and Rob, daughter Deanna (Erich), mother Marg, sister Ronda (Heather), grandchildren Emily, Colton, Aeva, Dylan and Bowen.

Mark worked hard and loved his work. He continued his education over a ten-year period through the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He completed his studies while raising a family and working full time with James Hancock, Architect.  Jim soon went from mentor, to boss and friend, along with his work associate Bernie Decosse; Mark, Jim and Bernie spent 7 enjoyable years working together designing high rises and high end homes in Vancouver.

Over a 26-year period, Mark and Lin together founded API Construction Ltd., designing, building and renovating numerous homes on the North Shore and Vancouver Westside. Mark had also competed his Project Management Professional Degree. They retired to Qualicum Beach and built their dream home on the water as planned. They travelled much of the world and enjoyed life. Mark’s final destination was a RV trip across Canada.

We would like to thank the wonderful people of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia who showed us so much compassion and love. Thank you Constable Samuel Lamont-Paradis (RCMP), Jackie, Audrey & Jason owners of Waves End RV Park, Cheryl & Kevin owners of Pilot Whale Chalets, Keven and Cairn Elder our friends and RV companions. You will all forever be in my heart.
