Richard Campbell Ragan was born October 3, 1940 in Alexis Creek, BC. He was the first of 4 children born to Raymond and Diana Ragan. After the war, the family settled on Vancouver Island, first in Little Qualicum and then in Qualicum.
After he finished school he went to vocational school in Vancouver for chef’s training but soon decided that was not for him. He returned to Qualicum and worked in construction for a few years.
In 1964 he met a local Parksville girl. They were married in early 1965 and moved to Port Alberni where he worked at Woodwards for 12 years. They were blessed with 3 children during this time.
In 1977 the family decided to see the north country and settled in Fort St John where he worked in various areas of the oil patch. In 2010 they decided to retire and settled in Coombs. By this time the family had increased by 9 grandchildren.
While in Coombs Rick became an active volunteer at Stanford providing support to residents there.
He was predeceased by his parents and 1 grandchild, Dirk.
Rick is survived by his wife Dawn (Krog), daughter Ann (Scott), Samantha and Owen; son Bob (Chrystal), Timber (Hayley), Caleb, and Ashton (Kaylene); daughter Christie, James, Joe, Rebekkah (Steven) and Edwin and 3 great grandchildren-Abigail, Alden and Charlie as well as siblings Barb (Ron), Mike and Tim (Lillian) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
