Sandra Hamblin

The family of Sandra Hamblin, of Errington BC, is saddened to announce her passing in the early morning hours of August 8th 2023, with family by her side.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Wayne of 52 years; their children Corinne (Ryan) Cross, Cindy (Shane) Rilling and grandchildren Connor, Keir and Aliya; as well as her brothers Frank (Diana) Tchir, Lawrence (Marie) Tchir, and sister Victoria (Robert) Kostuk. Sister-in-law Elsie (Lloyd) Gerhart and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends will also miss her.

Sandra was born in Tofield, Alberta on December 10th, 1950 to Fred and Annie Tchir and lived near Holden, Alberta for many years before moving to Edmonton where she met Wayne.  Wayne and Sandra moved their family to beautiful Parksville in 1982 to start a new business adventure and escape the prairie winters. They worked incredibly hard to build Jiffy Propane, starting with one truck and eventually expanding to cover much of the island and beyond.  When they sold the business in 1998 Sandra stayed on to work for Canwest Propane until her retirement in 2018. She often reminisced about all her wonderful co-workers and how much she enjoyed her time there.

Sandra loved gardening and baking. She took great pride in making treat trays for groups at holiday time which everyone raved about.  She also looked forward to each spring and summer, spending lots of time in her yard, and was famous for her hanging petunia baskets, lovingly hung just out of reach of the deer that frequented the yard.  Through Wayne’s love of hot rod cars and the local car clubs Sandra made many good friends that she always welcomed with a cup of coffee…

We all miss you so much.
