Ted (David Edwin) Smith Obituary

Smith, Ted (David Edwin)

October 2nd, 1944 – October 6th, 2023

The family of Ted Smith is saddened to announce his passing at age 79. On October 6th, Ted Smith of Bowser, BC passed away peacefully at home with family after managing a lung disease for several years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne Smith of 38 years and his children Sitka, Julie (Mike), Blayne and Scott (Tracy); and his grandchildren: Noah and Liam.

Remembered by his siblings Donna (Jerry), Marilyn (Luigi), Ken (Heather) and Laura and numerous Smith, Hawkes, Wilson and MacLean families.

Predeceased by his parents Lillian and Edwin Smith, first wife Bonnie Smith, parents in law Bert and Muriel Hawkes and Alida MacLean.

He will also be dearly missed by his friends Bruce and Joanne Rowland as well as other friends throughout the years, which are too numerous to name.

Ted was born at his family farmhouse in Blenheim Township, ON and then moved with his family to Guelph, ON.  He spent the majority of his career working for Bruce Nuclear Power which moved his life to Tiverton, ON, where he started his family.  Ted was a man of many skills and hobbies. When he was younger, he learned pistol shooting, archery, hunting, fishing, and taxidermy.   His love for reading books, cooking and scuba diving were primary interests throughout his life.  His later years he developed skills in antiquing and restoration, understanding our family ancestry and could always be found making or fixing something in his workshop.  He learned poetry and honed his public speaking skills by challenging himself to participate in the local Toastmaster’s club. In his retirement he and Anne moved out to BC and loved exploring the island and found much fun in discovering, identifying and photographing the various birds, flora and fauna.

At his request there is no visitation or memorial service.

Memorial Donations may be made in Ted Smith’s name to your nearest local Food Bank.
