Walter “Wally” Derworiz passed away October 12th in his 91st year. He will be missed by his soulmate Sharon Theobald, daughters Debbie (Dave) DeCoppel of Kitchener, Ontario, Peggy Quinn-Derworiz of Sudbury, Ontario, his grandchildren Bryan (Teri-Ann), Kelly and Johnathan and his great-grandchildren Colton and Olivia. Predeceased by his parents, brother Norman and sister Olga.
He was born in Wroxton, SK and moved to Sudbury, ON after high school. He had a degree in psychology, criminology and corrections from McMaster University. He spent his adulthood as a correctional officer in the federal system working for Burwash Corrections Farm, Kenora Jail and Stratford Jail and later retired as the prevention district manager for K-Mart Canada. During his retirement years he moved to Victoria, British Columbia where he worked as a security guard for BCTel. He loved to travel frequently back to Ontario to visit his family, taking winter vacations to warmer places such as Florida, Palm Springs, Hawaii, just to name a few. He had many hobbies such as real estate, his hobby farm in Mill Bay, gardening, walking the beach, playing his guitar and weekly trips to the casino. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his dry sense of humor, his love for the province of British Columbia and being a kind neighbor.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and no funeral will be held.
