William James Clark Ross

Bill Ross…..Husband, Soulmate, and "Best Friend" of Betty for "Sixty-Six Wonderful Years",. Father to Charlayne and predeceased by his sons Michael 2020 and Paul 1957 Bill passed away peacefully on July 19, 2021 at Age 86, with Betty by his side.

Bill was "Born and Raised" in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and at a very young age knew he wanted to fly, and be a "Fighter Pilot" in the Air Force.  He joined "Straight out of High School" at the Age of 18 and "Started a  "Journey" that would last until he retired in 1991 after "Serving his Country" for 37 years.

Upon completion of his "Flying Training" Bill received his Wings, and along with Betty his bride, was "Posted to Germany to fly F-86 Sabres" during a time when the F86 Sabres "Ruled the Skies".

Flying was "Bill's Passion", and he was blessed with numerous Postings where he was "Right at Home" in his Element. His "Flying Highlights" among others are; a "Tour" of running the  Canadian Starfighter Weapons Range Training Detachment in Sardinia, Italy; he had two Tours on CF-104 Starfighters….in Germany, and in Cold Lake Alberta; he had a Foreign Exchange Posting to the United States where he instructed on F4 Phantoms at the "United States Air Force Fighter Weapons School" in Las Vegas, Nevada, and; he "Commanded 416 Voodoo Squadron" in Chatham NB.

Throughout Bill's career, he displayed "Strong Leadership and Teaching Skills", and he enjoyed  Sharing his Experience", with others "Anytime…Anywhere".

Bill and Betty were also blessed with some interesting and enjoyable "Non- Flying Postings" during "Bill's Career". Two in particular were; a Posting to "Allied Forces North" at Oslo Norway, and Colorado Spring in the USA, where they met and became "Long Time Friends" with many "Multi- National Service Personnel" and their families serving in a similar capacity.

Upon Retirement, Bill and Betty settled in Qualicum Beach BC where they ran a "Bed and Breakfast" for many years, and where they continued to enjoy meeting new "Travellers and Friends….and.. during these years,  Bill met regularly with his  "Golfing Buddies" with whom he shared "War Stories",  the "Good Old Days" and "How it Really Was".

"By Any Measure" a Full Life…..Great Family….Great Flying….Great Friends…..Great Travels….All with "The love of his Life Betty", by his side……"It Doesn't Get Any Better than This".

There will be a celebration of life August 22, 2021 in the family home for friends and family from 2-4 pm
