Predeceased by his parents, William & Barbara Greig, his sister, Joan Hovdebo, and his daughter-in-law, Shelley Oliver Greig. Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janice Greig, his sons, David (Sue) and Chad (Heather), his grandchildren, Matthew (Erin), Owen, Moyra, and Jack.
Born In Winnipeg and raised in Regina & Prince Albert, SK, Bill was with the Saskatoon Fire Department for 32 years and retired in 2002 as a “District Chief”.
Upon retirement, Bill & Jan lived in West Kelowna for 5 years before settling in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. Throughout his life, Bill had a passion for music as a drummer playing in various bands ranging from marching bands to country rock bands. During retirement, this passion continued where he played in a pipe and drum band as well as a gospel church band.
Throughout retirement Bill continued to contribute to his community through volunteer work at his local RCMP detachments, local community theatre group, and his church.
Bill enjoyed gardening, travelling, camping and being a good helpful neighbour. However, Bill’s family was his first priority and true passion.
The Greig family would like to thank the staff at Trillium Hospice, staff and congregation at St Stephen’s United Church and close friends who supported the family these last three years during Bill’s battle with Cancer.
A service will be held for Bill at St. Stephen’s United Church, November 14th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
