Captain Gordon Robert Moul was born October 1931 to Minnie Maria and A.J. (Jack) Moul in Vancouver and died peacefully on Tuesday, July 16th, 2019.

Gordon came from a large family.  Siblings, Jack, Doris, Albert, Doreen, Douglas, Bob, and Diane.  He was raised and educated in Port Alberni.

His interest in aviation began at an early age when he and Ron Connolly bought an airplane at the age of 15 and he received his private pilot’s licence at the age of 16.  Gordon received his commercial licence at the age of 19, starting a long career in aviation beginning at Port Alberni Airways and retiring from Canadian Airlines International.  In the beginning, he flew aircraft older than himself; Waco’s, Fairchild’s 71’s and 82’s to the first of the second generation jets, Boeing 767 retiring off the Douglas DC10.  During this long career, he served as Council Chairman with the Canadian Airlines Pilot’s Association (CALPA).

Gordon had a long career in Civil Aviation serving over 40 years and logging 33,343 hours in the air.  He retired in 1991 to Qualicum Beach.  Gordon had other business interests as well.  In the late 60’s, he bought and developed TeePee Campground and Trout Farm at Cultus Lake, BC and later had a large cattle farm, "Torwoodlee", in Sardis, BC.

After retirement, he became politically active forming the Eaglecrest Residents’ Association and the Chartwell Residents’ Association bringing these two neighbourhoods into the town of Qualicum Beach.  In 2014, Gordon was awarded the Citation for Bravery by Prime Minister Stephen Harper or helping save the lives of hundreds threatened by Edi Amin of Uganda in 1972.

Gordon and Sybil married in 2000 and have had a very happy 20 years together.  They have a combined family of five; Tom (Cheryl) Moul, Maureen Moul, Jim (Carl) Moul, Jennifer (Steve) Handrigan, John (Jennifer) Eivindson; five grandsons and one granddaughter; Michael and Thomas Handrigan; Stephen Sevcik; Dane, Erik, and Stefanie Eivindson; and two stepchildren, Janet Gilmore and Barr Gilmore.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds

Up, up the long, delirious blue

Where never lark, or even eagle flew;

I’ve trod the high un-trespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand to touch the face of God.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
