Donald Leslie McKINNON

Don passed away suddenly surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, November 17, 2019. 

He leaves to forever miss him, his wife of 53 years, Eleanor; children, Lisa (Jamie) Aylard, Sherri McKinnon, Tara McKinnon (Ken), Jamie (Anita) McKinnon; grandchildren, Richard (Christina) Aylard, Duncan (Kaitlyn) Aylard, Colin Norris (Brenna), Justin Norris, Milan McKinnon, Breanne McKinnon; great grandchildren, Everett Aylard, Ryan Aylard; siblings, Phil (Delores) McKinnon, Norman McKinnon, Bruce (Linda) McKinnon and Monica McKinnon; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, friends, and coworkers.  Don was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and Norman McKinnon, his niece, Sarah Kathleen Mischki, and his sister Margaret.

Don was a hard working man.  He worked as a heavy duty mechanic for M & B, Copper Canyon, Canfor, Inglewood Division, Weyerhauser, Sproat Lake Division, Dan, Ryder, Coulson Group, Denis Francouer, Haggard Trucking, and Alberni Engineering to name a few.  He was also heavily involved with the operation of McKinnon's Dairy.

He sat on many committees for various groups over the years.  A dedicated family man, Don had a great passion for his farm “Mac Acres”.  He also enjoyed learning about other cultures and their cuisine.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Don’s memory may do so by making a donation in his name to Ty Watson House or a charity of your choosing.
