Mabel Baaske Obituary

Mabel passed away on Oct 31, 2019 with her niece by her side. Mabel had been living in care since May of this year, due to her declining health.

Mabel was born March 2, 1937 in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up in surrounding area. She had a long career as a medical lab technician, and married Max in 1962. They lived and worked in Edmonton until their retirement in 1992 and their relocation to Parksville. They designed and had a new home built in French Creek, where they have lived since arriving here.

Mabel was socially active, being a life-long Anglican, attending St. Edmunds and St. Anne’s church. She was active in several rock and gem clubs, the spinning and weaving club and many others. She always described herself as a “people person” and she truly enjoyed the company of others.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband Max in 2014, after 53 years of marriage, as well as her two sisters. They had no children, but she leaves behind several nieces and nephews and their families.

Mabel will be missed by her many friends in her community.

Her family wishes to thank her many caregivers, especially Sherry Holderness of Small Miracles at Home, who looked after Mabel for the last couple years.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 30 at 2 pm at St. Edmunds Anglican Church in Parksville.
