Vera Emelie Langlands GRANT

Vera Grant (Fraser) passed away peacefully at The Views in Comox on June 7, 2019 at the age of 94. She is predeceased by her husband Rodney, her daughter Rosemary and son Michael. She is survived by her daughter Candace and grandson Dylan.

Vera was born in Chemainus and raised her family in Saltair. While working at the local mill office, she also volunteered as a Girl Guide Leader and Sunday School Teacher. Vera enjoyed raising cattle and growing vegetables and holly on the family farm. Her Easter Egg Hunts and Burn’s Night parties were legendary and enjoyed by many of her friends and family. Vera and her husband were also avid collectors and they crossed Canada yearly in search of their treasures.

Upon retirement, Vera and her husband moved to Nanoose Bay where she continued to hold parties and indulge her passion for gardening, growing over 1,000 dahlias. She was involved with the Nanoose Garden Club and also volunteered with the Oceanside Stroke Recovery Society. In 2016 Vera moved to Courtenay where she continued gardening.

A special thank you to her nephew and niece David and Colleen Mayea for all their care and assistance over the years. Also, thank you to Penny Hayworth, you were a bright spot on her days.

Vera will be fondly remembered by her family and her many friends.
