Born in Kamloops, Al was the youngest of 7 children. He was an uncle to 3 the day he was born. He was raised on a ranch in Prichard and attended school in Prichard and later Chase, BC.
Al got his first guitar at the age of 8 and taught himself to play with the help of his cousin, Raymond. By the time he was a teenager, he could sing and play the top songs of that era. He continued to sing and play guitar throughout his life, bringing joy to family, friends, and many, many others.
