Don Snell Obituary

Don Passed away on October 17 2019 in Parksville British Columbia.

He is predeceased by his parents Margaret and Reg Snell.

Survived by his loving wife of seven years Danielle Snell. His children Brenda (Rod) Barry, Warman Saskatchewan, Darren (Ashley) Erin (Jason) and Becky, Calgary Alberta. Grandchildren Anthony, Rachelle, Riley, Harrison, Gibson and Mackoy. His father in Law Maurice Tougas (96) and many friends in Saskatoon and Calgary.

Don had a long and varied career. He was a Saskatoon city police officer, a mail carrier and a long term Federal Government employee in many different jobs. He was also very involved with unions, working hard to be a voice for those who did not have one.

He volunteered with the Royal Canadian Legion in both Alberta and British Columbia. In Alberta he was an Executive Member of Branch # 284 Calgary, member of colour party and helped with the poppy campaign. He was always ready to help, whether dong dishes for a Veteran lunch or determining options for federal grants.

In the Parksville, BC Mount Arrowsmith Branch #49 Don was the Service Officer, making the lives better for our surviving veterans, and making sure the money you put in the poppy box helped those veterans who needed it most.

Don relished his involvement with the G8 Summit in Kananaskis Alberta in 2002. He was procurement supervisor in charge of ensuring a safe and reliable supply of bottled water for the delegates.

Don loved to hike the mountains of the Alberta Rockies, especially in Canmore and Banff. Don climbed Chinamen's Peak and Aylmer Pass, even once being licked by a mountain goat.

Don was also a member of the IES, (Irricana Excursion Group), the Independent Order of Old Bastard's where he served on the Executive as Hammerhead for many years and the Basterettes. (which was the female equivalent of the IOOB's and was an honourary member) Don was never afraid of any costume that would bring fits of giggles. Don never took himself seriously (while in costume) and had great big shoulders to laugh at himself.

Always and forever My Sweetpea, always and forever.

Don will be missed by many but for his wife Danielle her heart is forever shattered.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
