With hearts heavy with sorrow, we announce the death of Hans Futtrup Sorensen on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

He leaves behind to forever miss him his loving wife of 34 years, Cristina; daughter, Myla Sorensen (Kevin O’Hara) of Fort St John; siblings, Christian Futtrup (Ester) Sorensen, Kirsten Futtrup (Verner, deceased) of Denmark; nieces, Lone Futtrup Sorensen and Hanne Nielsen; nephews, Soren Sorensen, Erick Sorensen, Kurt Sorensen, and Poul Sorensen; as well as many extended family members and friends. Hans was predeceased by his parents, Soren and Johanna Sorensen of Gudum, Denmark.

Hans was a man of many talents who had successful careers as a sawmill lumber grader/millwright, mechanic, electrician, and carpenter. He was the Secretary Treasurer for the Port Alberni Chapter of the International Order of Odd Fellows. After his retirement, he kept his life busy tinkering in a variety of things but woodworking remained his passion and he spent many leisurely hours in his workshop crafting dinning room tables, coffee tables, doors, and wood framed windows. Never one to sit, Hans also built a garage, a car port, gazebo and a chapel in the backyard and then expanded his workshop.
