In loving memory of Harry David Thompson
January 5, 1937 - April 12, 2022
Harry “Hank” Thompson passed away peacefully on April 12th.
Harry was born in Lake Doucet, Nova Scotia in 1937. His father was a veteran of the Great War, and two of his brothers served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second War, so it is unsurprising that after passing his younger years hunting and fishing in the woods and sea, he joined the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery in 1957. Hank would go on to serve the guns for over 30 years; a distinguished career that included postings to Norway, Germany, and across Canada.
Hank was an avid sailor and had a real passion for anything nautical. He served with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and was deeply involved with the Power Squadron.
Hank was a loving husband for over 60 years to his wife Anne, and devoted father to his children, Sue-Anne (Michael) and Stephen (Isabelle). He is survived by two grandchildren, Ryan (Cailin) and Krista (James), and two great grandchildren, one of whom arrived just before Hank’s passing, and who he was able to see.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the dedicated medical professionals of the Oceanside Health Centre, including the palliative care team, Trillium Hospice staff, and the volunteers of the Oceanside Hospice Society.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Oceanside Hospice Society.
