Joan (Joni) Rillia HAWKER

Joan (Joni) Rilla Hawker was born December 28, 1938 in Lovat, Nova Scotia and passed away peacefully on April 30, 2022 in Port Alberni, BC.

Joni was predeceased by her husband, Bernie Hawker; parents, Walter and Thelma Smeltzer; and her brother Raymond Smeltzer.

She will be sadly missed by her family; son, Colin;  daughter, Barbara (Rory); son, Rick (Marilyn); daughter, Vicki (Travis); stepson, Bruce (Fran), stepson Dalan (Myra) and stepdaughter Cara (Gord).  Being a Nana and GranNana was the highlight of her life.  She had 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Joni is survived by her sisters; Jean (Earl), Janet (Terry), Joyce (Blake) and Rose (Keith).

We would like to thank the nursing staff at West Coast General Hospital for their caring support of our Mom.  We also want to give a special thank you to Dr Marc Puts whose compassion and understanding were invaluable to us as we walked with our Mom thru the final stage of her life journey. 

A Celebration of Joni's life will be held at Jericho Road Church (5100 Tebo Avenue Port Alberni) on Friday May 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm.
