John Adair Obituary

Peacefully on Saturday May 2nd, 2020 John, at the age of 95, passed away at Trillium Hospice in Parksville with his two BC girls by his side, Katherine & Pat.

He was born in Galt Ontario to William & Anne Adair.

After completing his grade 8 at Central School in Galt he apprenticed for 2 ½ years as a motor mechanic at City Garage, Galt Ontario.

In 1943, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as a stoker and served on the HCMS MACDONALD on the West coast and the HCMS VISON on the Atlantic coast.

When his service in the Navy was over, he worked in the Galt post office for 27 years and then happily retired to Branchton Ontario.

In 2008 a few years after his wife Alison passed, he made a big move out to Vancouver Island, where his son Gary Adair & wife Pat & family lived.  Shortly after, Katherine and her family moved to Qualicum Beach, and son John moved to Sooke BC to be closer to him.

Qualicum Beach is where he enjoyed the rest of his days.

His favorite past time was listening to Lawrence Welk, and the big bands or watching the old black & white westerns.

John, or Jack as he was known by close friends and family, leaves behind five children, Patricia Cromwell of Harriston On, Brad Gogas of Cherry Grove AB, Bill & John Adair of Iron River AB, and Katherine Adair Carpenter of Qualicum Beach BC.  Also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

John is predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Shirley and Florence, also wife Alison, daughter Sherry Scott, and son Gary Adair.

The family would like to thank the homecare nurse Suzanne and the nurses and staff of Trillium Hospice for the great care he received.

A special thank you to his favorite home care aide Cindy, from Sues Senior Care.

Memorial contributions to Trillium Hospice in Parksville would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
