Margaret Christine (Rice) HAIDER

Margaret Christine Haider

December 24, 1935 – May 7, 2018

Margaret passed away at Ty Watson House after a courageous battle with cancer.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Sidney & Winifred Rice, she is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Norbert (Nobby), her sons Matthew and Brian, grandchildren Brady and Tianna, several relatives in England and many close friends.

Margaret was born in Saltash, England; after High School she trained as a Registered Nurse; working in Plymouth, England; Bermuda; Ontario, Canada and Alert Bay where she met her future husband, Nobby.

After marrying Nobby in 1964, in Port Alberni, Margaret continued to work as a Home Care Nurse.  She volunteered with several organizations (Meals On Wheels & Friendly Phone), was a member of the Sunshine Club and the Folk Song Circle.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service; a gathering of family and friends will take place later in the year. 

A “Thank You” to the home care nurses, the staff at Ty Watson House, to our friends who helped the family through difficult times and to Yates Memorial Services for their assistance.
