It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing of mom, at Trillium Lodge on September 20, 2020. Mom was predeceased by dad George Smith in 2012, her parents George and Kathleen Coburn and youngest brother Wes of Port Alberni.
Mom is survived by daughter Carol McNeil and husband Wayne McNeill of Qualicum Bay, also my half sister Patricia Russell and family of Maple Ridge. Mom is also survived by brother Ronnie Coburn and wife Harriet of Port Hardy, sister Beverley of Comox and George of Victoria. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mom and Dad married in 1954 and went fishing on their trawler as did I when I was born in 1955. Mom and dad lived in Deep Bay where they had the nicest flowers and vegetable garden.
My mom was a kind and gentle soul and we will always miss her.
A big thanks to the staff on Eastwood that took good care of Mom.
Here Ashes will be placed in our Ford Family Cemetery that mom and dad and others built on Hornby Island.
I found this little poem mom wrote, “Its no great achievement to die, but even a great achievement to live.”
Mom you are with dad in god’s garden where their aren’t any weeks only flowers to enjoy.
