Russell Roy BATDORF

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Russ.  At the age of 90, Russ passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

Russell was born in Beechy, Saskatchewan and moved to the Alberni Valley in 1948 at the age of 18.  As a young man, Russ enjoyed music, dancing, and fishing.  He married his love, Irene in 1951.  Together they raised their two daughters and loved spending time camping and enjoying the outdoors.

Russell worked as an electrician and was a partner in Ken’s Electric. During his leisure time he found pleasure in fishing the Stamp River, traveling with his family, curling, singing, and playing the accordion, guitar, and harmonica.  Russ was a kind, soft spoken man who loved socializing with friends through his membership with the Oddfellows and Rebekahs, the Tall Timbers Holiday Park, and later in life with the Sunshine Club and various coffee groups.

Russ was a caring person and a gentle soul.  He will be remembered lovingly as a man who was generous, compassionate, and supportive to others.

Russ was predeceased by his daughter, Valorie.  He is survived by his loving wife, Irene; daughter,  Gloria (Scott) Green, grandchildren, Dan, Sara (Trevor), Kevin (Lisa), David; as well as great grandchildren, Lucas, Kayla, Avery, and Sydney.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society.  In keeping with Russ’ wishes, no service will be held.
