On Tuesday, November 1, 2022 Ruth Hamar went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 88. As a young woman living in Pugwash, Nova Scotia she heard and accepted the wonderful truth of the gospel that God loved her and Christ died for her.
She is survived by her children, Ralston (Rhoda), Jacqueline, Philip (Shirley), Albert (Ruth), 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 3 brothers. She was predeceased by her parents, Al (Millard) and Mildred Trenholm, one sister and two brothers. Also, by her son-in-law, Jim Barron and grandson Nathan Barron.
Mom was a very talented person and whatever she turned her hand to was done with excellence; from playing the piano, to quilting, cake decorating, sewing and whatever needed to be done. She also spent many summers teaching swimming at Crescent Beach in her home town of Pugwash, Nova Scotia. At forty years of age, she took a big step and left Pugwash for British Columbia and resided in the greater Vancouver area. She spent many years of her working life at the Department of Indian Affairs.
She retired to Port Alberni several years ago due to health issues and to be close to family.
For most of her Christian life she attended the Gospel Hall. Her greatest desire was to have her children and grandchildren listen to the simple preaching of the Gospel and ultimately trust Christ as Saviour.
