Terry Joseph Widdershoven
Feb 25 1960 – Jan 3 2022
Terry was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and spent his first 15 years there before moving to Quispamsis, New Brunswick in 1975.
He relocated in 1982 to Prince Rupert & later to Nanaimo and then to Maple Ridge where he met and married Sandra Sironen and together they created Terry’s greatest love, his daughter Chelsy.
He moved back to the island in 2016 to retire on his beloved Englishman River & stayed there until his death. He was very devoted to his parents, and was a great help to care for them in their last year, after their move to Parksville in 2018.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, Rudi & Milie Widdershoven in 2019, & his baby brother Johnny Robert (1962).
He is survived by his daughter Chelsy (Brandon), brothers Rudi (Trish) and Paul (Charlene) and nieces & nephews Jessica, Nicholas, Marlise, Kurt, & Mikel, and many great nieces & nephews as well as Sandra McCannell (Dave) and all of Sandra’s family loved him and always continued to treat him as family.
He is also remembered by his special cousins Simone and Alexandra (Bernie).
Terry was a kind man, who worked hard. He was a labourer and a landscaper, and he was very proud of the work he did on the “Golden Ears” Bridge.
Terry had his challenges, but overall he tried his best to live a good life. Terry was a true “Maritimer” with a heart of gold, who would give you the shirt off his back, even if he didn’t have one himself. He treated strangers better than himself. Terry was a great Dad to his “Chelsyo” whom he loved dearly. He was incredibly happy to be able to “give Chelsy away” at her wedding to Brandon in August 2020 and it was truly a highlight for him.
Rest in peace “Ter Bear”. We will all have another Angel watching over us and yes Terry “we will keep smiling as you believe it looks good on us”.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
