William Le Sage Obituary

William Alvin LeSage, born on May 12, 1941, in Vancouver, peacefully passed away on March 25, 2024.

He was the beloved son of Dorothy and Norman LeSage and is predeceased by his brothers Larry, Norman (Mary Lou) and sister Marie.

William "Bill" is also survived by his brother, Lionel (Bev) and sister, Carole (Al).

He is deeply mourned by his wife, Lise Rose, and their cherished children Lynn (Mike), Paul (Judy), Monique and Michelle (Earl).

Bill was a devoted grandfather to Kaila (Anthony), Scott (Brooke), Karissa, Kyler (Alysha), Kiera (Jake) and Matisse and step-grandchildren Alex (Taryn), Courtney (Scott), Jason and Blair (Breanna) and nine step great grandchildren. He was also an adored Uncle Billy to many nieces and nephews.

Upon graduating from Vancouver College, Bill worked in the banking industry for a short time. He was transferred to Hull, Quebec where he met his much-loved wife of 61 years. Returning to Vancouver, he joined forces with his brothers in the vending industry, crafting a successful career path. Eventually, his entrepreneurial spirit led him and Lise to purchase Sunset Lanes in Parksville, creating joyful memories for countless families.  Bill finished out his working years in the coffee industry as “the Guru of Sales on the North Island” for Oughtred Coffee. He was well known for his personalized service style, often knowing his customers birthdate, children’s and grandchildren’s names and even the name of their favourite pet!

Bill was a pillar of the community, known for his dedication and contributions to various organizations. He was honoured as Parksville’s "Citizen of the Year" in 1996 and for 24 years Bill was the Parade Marshall for Parksville’s Canada Day Parade, from its humble beginnings in 1988 to one of the largest Canada Day Celebrations on Vancouver Island.

He was actively involved in the Parksville Rotary Club, were he served one term as President, and was awarded the "Paul Harris Fellowship Award" from Rotary International. Bill was also involved in the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce, also serving as President for one term. Bill dedicated himself to making his community a better place.

Bill was awarded the "Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal" in 2012 for his extraordinary contributions to the Nanaimo-Alberni Communities. His commitment also extended to the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation, where he served for 17 years, leaving a lasting impact on healthcare in the region.

Bill's incredible sense of humour brought laughter to everyone he met. His favorite joke, "Dip, dip, dip in my new blue Cheer!" never failed to bring smiles and chuckles. He was surrounded by an amazing network of friends who cherished his company and wit.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the Nanaimo Regional Hospital and the many doctors, nurses, and support staff who provided care and support during Bill's health challenges in his final year.
