Barb,
I am so sorry to hear of Len's passing. I was fortunate enough to work briefly with him while I was at the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health. Len was so warm and gentle - and always had a smile. Thinking of you and sending you a warm hug. Love, Annette

Dear Barb,
I was surprised to hear of Len's sudden death, and heartbroken for you. I remember when we first met and you told me the story of meeting "my cowboy". It spoke of your deep love and respect for each other. We're praying for comfort for you at this time.

I was one of his former students in his Canadian Geography and Social Studies classes in high school. He found humor in many situations, helping us to overcome our sad moods and look forward to new challenges as he faced them. Len will be best remembered for his bag joke. RIP Len, you will be missed.

I will always remember Len for his desire to do what was right, not always the popular. I will remember his caring attitude to all those who worked with him. He was a true servant of the public and leaves a strong legacy of public service. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

As a reporter covering St. Albert city council meetings for MG 1200 radio Len was always a good person to interview. Always willing to take a few moments to discuss, detail or clarify issues that came up for discussion. Len and Barb lived for many years on the next crescent and he'd always give a cheerful hello if we crossed paths in the neighbourhood or elsewhere. A fine man.

My condolences to Barb and family on the loss of Len Bracko. I am sure Len will be greatly missed by all he touched through his life, and he has left an incredible legacy of service throughout his life. I first met Len, and Barb - through Banff International Christmas in 1986 and Len had served so remarkably. My thoughts are with you.

Hi Barb,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and although it has been a few years many memories of Len, kind, gentle and patient but with quite a sense of humour. As wrangler and leader " Shifty" influenced many young and old campers at Pioneer.

Take care, Bonnie Patterson-Payne

I first became friends with Len in 1963 where we both attended Lethbridge Junior College. When we continued university in Edmonton he got me to attend Fellowship Baptist Church, and it was his quiet friendship more than anyone else's influence that led me to become a Christian. While we hadn't been in touch for a long time, I have always liked and respected him, with gratitude for his influence in my life. May God bless his wife, his sisters and brothers, and all those who loved him.

When I counselled at Pioneer Ranch Camp in the summer of 1969, "Shifty" was one of the wranglers who accompanied the girls and myself on a multi day trip into the Rockies on horseback. His humour and wisdom around the campfire, not to mention the practical skills we relied upon daily, made the trip memorable. There were some tough issues faced by our young charges. I particularly remember a conversation with a young teen who had been sent to camp for abusing drugs. Shifty fortified her sense of independence and self esteem while she cooked marshmallows over the fire. He also led in our Bible studies and discussions. He was a great colleague and friend!

Mr. Bracko was an inspiration to our sons as their social teacher.
I admired his willing and tireless volunteering in struggling places.
We missed his friendliness at mass on Sundays at Holy Family when he moved away.
A life well lived!

Our hearts are saddened at Len's departure from us. And we know that God was his Pilot, and Len has gone to meet his Pilot face to face. So, God speed, Len! We will miss you more than words can say. Our prayers for you, Barb, are rising daily like incense, praying for strength for each day. May God hold you close. Love you so much!

My heartfelt condolences to you Barb, and the rest of Len's family. I have known Len since his first year of teaching. I was a student... We later worked as volunteers at the same events from time to time, and I loved running into him in and around St. Albert. He influenced a lot of people...me included. Rest in peace Len.
